In order to further build the capacities of Macedonia Innovation Center for creating solid basis of innovation development, adaption and adoption in Macedonia, two representatives of the Macedonia Innovation Center attended one day training workshop on ‘Knowledge Transfer: Tools and Mechanisms for Supporting Innovation’ on the 23rd of September, 2011, in Becici, Montenegro.
The workshop speakers were regionally and world-wide renowned experts in the knowledge transfer field: Dr. Rene Wintjes from the Netherlands, Senior Researcher, United Nations University and Maastricht Economics and Social Institute on Innovation and Technology, focused on the ‘Introduction to Knowledge Transfer: Basic Concepts, Toоls and Policies’. Dr. Spela Stres from Slovenia, Head of the Center for Technology Transfer and Innovation at the Institute Jozef Stefan from Slovenia, conducted an interactive presentation on the ‘Role of Operations of Knowledge Transfer Offices and Links to the Industry and Society’. Dr. Omer Hiziroglu from Turkey (with extensive working experience in the USA), Director of Technology Transfer and General Counsel from the Turkish Inovent SA, delivered the issues on the building innovation management capacity, particularly how to effectively use IP Agreements through case study analysis.
The workshop brought together governmental agencies, business incubators, SME development agencies and public research institutes related to SME’s, entrepreneurship, intellectual property bodies and innovation centers from Serbia, Croatia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Albania, Montenegro and Macedonia.
The workshop was organized by the Montenegro Directorate for Development of SME’s and by the Directorate for Development of SME’s in the frame of the Co-ordination of Research Policies with the Western Balkan Countries WBC – inco.net project co funded by the European Community’s Program for International Cooperation under the 7th Framework program for Research and Technological Development (2007-2013).
